Hi gaz, further to you next message we would ask you to read our confidentiality and privacy policies again which are attached to WebTalk and are here on q2a too. You have to tick to say you have read them before you can access the webtalk room so we guess you have read them at some time.
Those policies state that everything said to us through any of the interactive services remain confidential to the service. The only exception to this is the q2a bulletin board where anyone can read what a young person says and what we say in reply. That is one reason why we don't put up the messages you send us at q2a regarding your webtalk conversations - you would not be too difficult to identify for a local person either at your school or in your town and we want to protect your confidentiality.
The policies also say that the only times that we break confidentiality - and we aim always to tell the young person and get their permission - is when they are currently subject to abuse, usually from an adult, they are in a dangerous or life threatening situation or they are involved in acts of terrorism. So you will realise that when we first knew you you fitted into one of these categories and we have tried for some time to convince you that you could really do with some help in dealing with it on the ground. You have consistently refused our offers of help and as you know we are unable to locate you. We have provided you with the contact details for a self referral to a variety of agencies and talked with you of possible next steps many times. We recognise the ball is in your court and that is where you are keeping it. We also recognise that you have got quite a bit older and you have survived so our anxiety on this subject is slightly less. It does still remain, but we know you have the contact details and we know you know we would make contact for you if you ever asked us to.
So, we still aim to engage positively with young people on what concerns them. We know your bereavement concerns you, that's why in the past couple of weeks when there has been relevant publicity we have tried to talk to you and support you through this. No way is this a trick, this is a thoughtful service recognising that this could be a particularly difficult time for you and we were offering our support in a personal way. If you reject it its up to you.
For some time the main focus of our work with you is to encourage and help you towards success in your school work so that you will be able to achieve your ambition. That is why, when it is practical for us, we spend a lot of time with you on revision. It is also why now we know that your school career is in jeopardy we are encouraging you to talk with the new professionals who will become involved with you so that they will be able to help you achieve your ambition. Thats all. No tricks. No lies.
