This is our reply.......
Hi unhappy1993, thanks for contacting us again.
Try not to be so hard on yourself, you are not stupid, you are clearly deep thinking, caring
and intelligent, but you are also quite poorly at the moment. Your education as well as
other aspects of your life seem to have been turned upside down by your illness. It is good
that your parents have been really supportive and understanding and not added extra
pressure on you. Non one should really expect you to be able to function at even a third
of your real capacity when you are not well. Is it possible to follow the work from home,
have you friends who will come round and go through lessons with you - will school send
lessons home for you?
You havent really told us yet how the meeting on 12th October went. Do you want to?
Have the school been able to access extra support for you whilst in school? Will there be
a follow up meeting? Are you still involved with NYAS if so will they continue to support
you in your contact with the school or other agencies?
Although you may feel like you are failing, try not to give up on your studies at school. It is
still quite early in your new academic year, and although some of the teachers don't seem
too understanding some of the others do seem supportive, so take the support they offer
you. Try to work with your parents too, the school and the other involved agencies trying to
help you cope with life as it seems to you. And even if it ends up worst case and you feel
this year is written off, it's not a disaster, you can re-take the year, and with the way
education and courses and exams are changing it might even be better to put it all off for a
year!
With regards more specifically to your mental health do you feel you are making any
progress with CAMHS and the Psychologist? If you are continuing to experience a slow
response from CAMHS, perhaps ask your parents or maybe NYAS to contact them to
request a speedier response to your needs. We are sure they are as keen as you are to
get as much support and help for you as is possible.
We hope you feel supported by our message, please keep in touch and let us know how
things are.
Take care and
Best wishes
