Rob asks...
I have no were to go tonight because my parents have thrown me out
What we suggest...
Hi Rob Thanks for getting in touch with us. We hope we can get this message to you - we are
having technical problems with our website today, but we will do our best. There are official and unofficial ways of managing the situation you tell us about. The
unofficial way is to think about where you can go that you can sort our yourself - this could
be to stay with a mate if their parents agree, or with grandparents or aunts or uncles if
they are nearby. They might well also be able to help you and your parents negotiate a
return home or some other solution to the situation - like living with them for a while
perhaps. The official way is to get professional adults involved in making sure you are safe, as a first
priority and then trying to help sort things out between you and your parents. Here are the
places you could go:- - School is one place. If you tell the teachers there, either your pastoral head of care or
any teacher or member of staff you get on with they will be able to start to put things in
place to help you. or - Police - you can go into any police station and explain what has happened. They will
help you. If you have a phone you can ring police officer Daren Cawley on 01302 385178
who is based in Conisbrough, or go into the police station in Mexbrough on Adwich Road
Mexbrough. - Social Care - we hope you can get to Mexbrough because that is where the services
seem to be, and the Social Care office is in Martinwell Centre, Thompson Avenue,
Eddlington Lane, Mexbrough DN12 1JD. Or you could ring 01302 737777 and be put
through to them. Those really are you main immediate options, except for going home and trying to
negotiate your way in again, although you may well not feel like doing that. But please do
choose at least one of the options we have given you and follow it through. Don't feel
worried about going to the Police or Social Care, they have your best interests and safety
at heart and will do what they can to help you. If you do not have access to a phone we suggest you go to the Youth Centre called The
Place on Castle Street in Conisbrough, Tel 01709 583175 or 01709 863491. We are sure
the staff there will let you use the phone and support you all they can. Because of your age the authorities will respond to your situation Rob, but you need to tell
them - we do not have enough information to put them in touch with you. We hope the information we have given will help you. You can ring us for free from a
landline on 0800 51 11 11 or on mobile networks Virgin, Orange and 3. There is our text
number 07786 511111 or you might like to talk to us on WebTalk @ www.whatnow.co.uk
We are open from 10am to 10pm and these are the best ways to get in touch if you need
urgent information or advice. Obviously you can email us again through q2a. We would be glad to talk to you about the problems at home and see if we can help you
sort them a bit, but the first priority at the moment is to get you somewhere to stay. Please let us know how you get on and if there is anything else we can do to help. Take Care Expert advice and
