jason, preston asks...
I am looking to get involved within the young peoples servise as a volunteer who do i need to speak to in the preston area.
What we suggest...
Hi jason, preston, thanks for contacting q2a.
Becoming a volunteer with Lancashire Young People's Service provides an excellent opportunity to help and support young people in a variety of settings, whilst gaining new skills, knowledge and experience.
To find out more about volunteering opportunities in the Preston area please contact Fiona Attwater on 01772 554400, Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm (If she is not in the office, leave her a message and contact number and she will get back to you).
Alternatively you can email her at fiona.attwater@lancashire.gov.uk
She will send you an application form, which requires completing and returning with two personal references. After an introductory chat with her about volunteering, you will need to have a CRB check undertaken, which will reveal if you have a police record that may affect whether you are suitable for work with young people. If you have no criminal convictions, then this check is a formality.
We hope this reply is helpful and you soon find yourself involved as a Volunteer with the Young People's Service in Lancashire.
Best wishes
q2a.
