Q2A
Got an enquiry ........
i study at home due to having agraphobia and chronic fatigue. i have done a few gcses and
want to study two more. Is there any funding to pay for these courses whilst i do them
from home?
This is our reply.......
Hi Frances, thanks for your email.
Unfortunately it can be difficult to find financial support to study at home. Whilst there are
lots of organisations which enable GCSEs to be studied at home, from checking their
websites they don't offer reductions or discounts on their fees for people who are, for
example, receiving welfare benefits, or who have other reasons for not attending a school
or college. However, most of the organisations let you pay their fees by instalments, and
it's also worth checking their websites for special offers. From our research, costs range
between £250 - £399 for a single GCSE. Here are some of the organisations which provide home study, for your information:

# http://www.uk-open-learning.com telephone: 0800 043 4288
# http://www.ukopencollege.co.uk telephone: 0800 013 1030
# http://www.learning-at-home.co.uk telephone: 08456 123 823
We have checked out a number of organisations which offer grants for educational
purposes but haven't been able to match your circumstances as you describe them to us,
to their criteria. But you may want to check this out for yourself. Here are the ones we
looked at:

If you are unable to raise the funding to be able to study at home, we hope that you are
soon well enough to be able to continue your studies at college or in the workplace.
Best wishes from q2a.
