Q2A
Got an enquiry ........
because in CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting cima abbreviates Chartered Institute
of Management Accountants but because it's still an entry-level qualification does it still
qualify to be manager
This is our reply.......
Hi dim, thanks for contacting q2a.
According to CIMA's website the Certificate isn't quite enough to become a management
accountant but getting this qualification would enable a student to move on to the next
level of training. CIMA's Professional Qualification, or a similar course offered by another of
the accountancy organisations e.g. the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants.
After gaining this further qualification, together with at least 3 years' work experience, it's
possible to become a management accountant.
We'll explain what's involved in both qualifications:
The Certificate is 5 computer-based exams. You can download a copy of the syllabus
from http://www.cimaglobal.com/Students/Entry-level-certificate-in-business-accounting,
and there's also an update on the changes to the syllabus in 2011
The Professional Qualification is three exams at Operational level, three exams at
Managerial level, three exams at Strategic level and a two-part Test of Professional
Competence in Management Accounting based on practical experience and a case study.
You can download a copy of the syllabus from
