courses in preston asks...
Hi q2a
I am hoping you may be able to help me find a college course for a photography course and dress making course in the preston area.
I work full time so the course would have to be in the evening.
I am interested in all aspects of photography and enjoy taking photos but this is as far as my technical skills go.
Regarding dress making, i want to be able to make and alter clothes but as i am only 22 i dont want an old fuddy duddy course where clothes are made from basic patterns. I want a course aimed at young people. Hope this is enough infomoramtion for you to be able to help.
Also, how much will the courses cost me?
thanks q2a

Depending on your circumstances you may be able to study free or at a reduced rate, but you can get information about this when you ring or email as above.
Many courses have limited places so it's best to enquire as soon as you can, following the interview the earliest you can enrol is mid - June. Bearing in mind it is now October you may have to wait until next year to enrol either in January if courses start then or in September 2009.
As a general rule if you're working full - time and are over 19 you are expected to pay for the cost of your course. You may be able to pay in installments though so it's worth checking the options available to you out.
Regarding dress making Preston College does seem the place to look. They have three courses:
- Dress Making and Tailoring
- Dress making for beginners
- Dressmaking
Below is some information taking from Preston College's website www.preston.ac.uk about each course:

- Course lasts for 10 weeks and is part - time in the evening (Wednesday's 7pm - 9pm)
- The cost for the course is £64

Again it's best to telephone Preston College regarding payment, course availability, start date etc. Also worth asking what the dress making courses really entail and whether they are designed for young people or not.
Also, if you go to www.hotcourses.com and enter preston, photography, in the search 24 different courses come up. There were also 6 courses for dressmaking. Do have a look, you might spot just what you are looking for.
