booty asks...

I am thinking of taking a job that will pay less than I earn now, do you know of any online tools that would tell me how much I would get in supporting benefits to top up my wage.

thks.

What we suggest...

Hi booty

The online tool that would be able to help you is known as a benefits calculator. There are many of these on the internet and you can select one to try by typing "online benefits calculator" into Google.

You will have to fill out a series of questions about your income and some personal details such as whether you claim certain benefits, live with a partner etc. The software programme will be able to estimate which, and a figure for how much benefits you might be entitled to. It is important to be aware that these estimates are not a guarantee that you will get this amount, this will only come when you make your formal application.

Once you have your estimates and if you feel that you would like to apply for the relevant benefits you could then contact the relevant benefits agency and fill out the relevant forms, being sure to provide the evidence that they require. We would recommend that you do this as promptly as possible so that you do not miss out out any money that you are entitled to. For information on the whereabouts of the local relevant agencies we suggest you visit www.fylde.gov.uk and search on the benefits section. There is also an online benefits calculator on this site.

We hope this information is useful to you and that you manage to get all the benefits that you are entitled to, and enjoy your new job.
