This is our reply.......
Hi Umalik, thanks for contacting q2a.
We're sorry for the delay in replying, we hope you've found somewhere safe to stay but if
not here's what you can do.
You can go to or telephone either your local council's housing office or your local
Children's Social Care office. Tell them as much as you can about why you feel that you
can no longer live at home, and they will either work with you and your family to enable
you to return to live at home, or find you somewhere else to live. If they need to find you
somewhere else to live, because you're under 16 this will probable be with either another
member of your family who can look after you, a foster family, or a children's home.
Your local council's housing office is:
# Hyndburn Borough Council, Regeneration and Housing Services, 20 Cannon
Street, Accrington. BB5 1NJ. Telephone: 01254 388 111, ask for the Housing Office.
Open 9am-5pm
Your local Children's Social Care office is:
# Children's Social Care Office, 44 Union Street, Accrington BB5 1PL. Telephone:
01254 398731, ask to speak to the Duty Officer. Open 9am-5pm
If you need help outside these opening times you can contact:
# The Social Care Emergency Duty Team, 0845 602 1043, open 5pm-9am
# The Police. You can ring 999, or walk into your nearest police station which is at
Spring Gardens (just off Manchester Road), Accrington. BB5 2BJ. Open 24 hours
If you have travelled away now and you are not sure where the nearest place to get help is,
then ring us on 0800 511111 from any payphone - it will be free, you don't have to put
money in, and we can find out where the nearest place to go is, and help you get in touch.
If you need any help or support in contacting either of the above organisations, if you're
attending school:
# you can tell a teacher what's happened and they can contact either the Council or
Social Care for you
If you are still in Accrington you can also go to:
# The Young People's Service, The Old Bank, Whalley Road, Accrington, next to
the Music Box.
We don't know why you have run away but we guess you and your parents have had a
falling out and you feel you can't stand it at home any more. How do you think your
parents will be feeling now? Will they be angry with you anyway, and furious because you
have run away, or will they be thinking that maybe they went a bit too far this time? Either
way, they are pretty likely to be worried about you, maybe a bit annoyed, but more worried
and concerned that you are safe. So maybe its worth thinking about making up with
them? You have made your point, and they will have got the message that they can't
push you around - maybe its time to negotiate and find a way that you can all stay in the
same house for a bit longer, until you are old enough to get your own place. Perhaps you
have gone to stay with someone else in the family and they can maybe help you handle
your parents and make things a bit more bearable? If you'd like to tell us what has been
going on, when you can, we would be glad to have a go at trying to work out ways for you
to handle the situation and make things easier all round.
We hope this information is helpful. Please email us again if we can be of any more help.
Take care.
Best wishes from q2a.
