Q2A
Got a quick question ......
How many fish are there?
This is our reply.......
It's impossible to know how many fish there are in the sea - there are too many to count.
Also the number of fish isn't constant because, as well as new species being discovered
regularly, the numbers of some species are falling due to over-fishing and damage to the
marine environment. So because of this, the nearest answer we can give you is that
scientists estimate that there are approximately 22,000 species of fish. They also
estimate that there are 230,000 - 250,000 species of marine life in total, this includes fish
as well as sea mammals (whales, dolphins, seals etc.) crustaceans, krill and so on.
