This is our reply.......

Hi Art PhyschoThearpy, thanks for contacting q2a.

You tell us that you have been studying for a NVQ Level 2 Children's Care, Learning and
Development (CCLD) at the Rathbones training centre in Chorley. You complete this
course in March 2010 and are interested in going into child psychology or Art
Psychotherapy.

As we are sure you are already aware the successful completion of your course enables
you to apply for jobs in childcare such as in nurseries, play groups or crèches. Although
working in this field is not your main ambition, it would however provide a useful starting
point to develop experience and knowledge of work with children. We recommend that you
don't immediately right off your current path of training, before you have tried it. You may
find that if you where actively involved in this work you would reconsider this as a realistic
career choice. Then you would have the option to study the Level 3 Advanced
Apprenticeship in Children's Care, Learning and Development (CCLD).

If however you decide to embark on a path to become a psychologist or psychotherapist
you need to be aware that the training would be long and very academically demanding.
To go into Higher education at University you will need as entry requirements Level 3
qualifications, which include A and AS Levels, BTEC's, and the Advanced Diploma.

For example the University of Lincoln offers a 3 year full time degree in Psychology with
Child Studies. The entry requirements are 280 tariff points from a minimum of two A levels,
to include a grade C in a science or related subject, or the equivalent, plus a minimum of 3
GCSE at grade C or above, to include English Language and Maths, or the equivalent. For
a degree in Psychology, normally 2 - 3 A levels are required and 5 GCSE's (A - C) usually
including English, Maths and sometimes a Science subject or equivalent.

If however you wish to become a psychotherapist then a degree in any discipline will be
acceptable, but subjects such as psychology, medicine, nursing, social work or sociology
may be particularly relevant. Further more this is not a job that is open to school leavers
as maturity and life experience are essential. Few people under 30 years would be
considered for entry. Most entrants to training in psychotherapy have a degree in
psychology or are qualified in a related are such as psychiatric nursing, medicine or social
work and have gained extensive experience in the field of mental health.

With regards to your question about training providers, unfortunately it isn't possible to
